History

Environmental Concerned Youth Association is an NGO established in November 1998 and duly registered in November 1999, under the laws of Malawi’s Trustees Incorporation Act of 1962. ECOYA is a member of the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM), Malawi Network of AIDS Services Organization (MANASO), Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN), Malawi Human Rights Youth Network (MHRYN) and Wildlife and Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM).

The organization has an Annual General Assembly (AGM), board of trustees, and an Executive Management Team of 9 youths followed by a general membership of 48 young people. These are registered in disregard of their ethnicity, religious and political affiliation, and gender, physical, economical or social status.

Objectives

  • Increasing community participation in protecting and conserving the environment, wildlife and natural resources
  • Building community competence in dealing with sexual reproductive health and its emerging problems Increase community capacity in dealing with Human rights, gender, democracy and their responsibilities for the good of humanity
  • Enhancing youth’s participation in developmental activities whilst promoting their competency for self employment and sustainable livelihood
  • Increasing community capacity in dealing with Human rights, gender, democracy and their responsibilities for the good of human beings.
